New masonry washing machine puts an end to damage from excess pressure

It happens too often.

Inexperienced workers using high-powered pressure-washers during post-construction cleandown of new masonry buildings, blow out mortar joints and scar surfaces with wand marks. Damages range from expensive to irreparable.

That doesn’t have to be the case anymore. The new Sure Klean® HI-FLOW 1000 Masonry Washing Machine from PROSOCO delivers a fast, effective cleandown in the hands of experts or novices. It’s a cleandown that most of all -- is safe.

“You just don’t need 3,000 psi to get job dirt and excess mortar off a new brick or block building, especially when you’re using a reliable masonry cleaner,” says HI-FLOW designer Ray Boudreaux, Clean-Rite Technologies, Kenner, La.

Mr. Boudreaux, an experienced builder of pressure-washers, constructed the HI-FLOW 1000 at the request of PROSOCO’s field-service reps who have often seen the problems high pressure can create on masonry buildings.

“One thousand psi is easily enough to clean a new masonry building,” Mr. Boudreaux said. “The difference is that 1,000 psi is not enough to harm most masonry, under most circumstances.”

That’s one reason the HI-FLOW 1000 is a required piece of gear for everyone involved in cleaning new masonry construction, he adds.

The HI-FLOW is not only named for the amount of pressure – 1,000 psi – it delivers. The name “HI-FLOW” refers to the fact that the machine also puts out 6-8 gallons per minute (gpm) of water at 1,000 psi. That’s much more than the 2-4 gpm conventional pressure washers put out.

“Those numbers are important because they save contractors money,” Mr. Boudreaux said. “It takes a certain amount of water to effectively pre-wet and rinse a masonry wall. If your worker can deliver that amount 2-3 times faster than your competitor, he’ll get done 2-3 times sooner.

“That means more jobs, and more profit, in less time.”

It also means a better-looking job, since the massive amount of water more effectively flushes spent cleaner and dissolved contaminants from the masonry. With the HI-FLOW 1000, problems with residue after the wall dries are unlikely.

That’s important, not just to contractors, but to architects and building-owners, too.

The HI-FLOW 1000 is driven by a reliable 11-horsepower commercial-grade gas-powered Honda engine, and uses a heavy-duty fixed displacement pump. It comes in two versions – portable wheeled cart and wheel-less roll cage for use on swing stages. The roll-cage version comes with a wheel kit.

Other standard features include a 40-inch stainless steel bi-flow flood wand, and a 50-foot high-pressure wand with quick-connect fittings.
